Position Summary

Opportunity Builders, Inc (OBI) drivers are responsible for providing transportation services for adults diagnosed with developmental disabilities. Transportation services can be from various community locations, including, but not limited to residential homes, community activities, places of employment and the Opportunity Builder’s main location in Millersville, Maryland.  This position will be required to provide assistance to individuals entering and exiting the vehicles.  

Essential Duties

  • Transporting individuals by driving an agency vehicle and/or your own personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement. 
  • To act in a manner that is dignified, respectful, and honors the individual’s rights, preferences and needs as determined within the person-centered plan (PCP).
  • Provide, monitor and maintain a safe work environment in the vehicles, including proper use of wheelchair tie-downs.
  • Provide accurate and quality documentation of all services provided, in accordance with OBI, state, and federal regulations by entering data as require
  • Attend external meetings, conferences and trainings as needed/requested by supervisor.
  • Participate in ongoing in-service training and maintain all state, federal and OBI required trainings. Participate in specialized training for any assigned individuals

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver’s license, with three points or less driving record and 3+ years driving experience. 
  • Ability to perform and meet job and physical requirements. 
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with people with intellectual and physical disabilities is preferred (may include personal experience from having a family member or member(s) with a disability)
  • Able to perform job with autonomy
